A Little Guide To.. Barnet

A Little Guide To.. Barnet
This weekend Northampton make the short trip to take on bottom club Barnet hoping to continue their run of four games un-beaten in all competitions.

Barnet

This will be seen as a good time to face Barnet, who are rooted to the bottom of the League Two table, with the Bee's only registering one win in their last nine games. Last season, an in-form Barnet side, then under the management of Ian Hendon beat the Cobblers 3-1, but eventually burnt out and were only four points away from losing their football league status at the end of the season.

Location

Also know as 'High Barnet', the Bee's Underhill stadium is located in north London in the borough of Barnet itself.

Last season, the Bee's were the Cobblers' geographical local rivals for the season, the promotion of both Stevenage and Oxford has meant Barnet have slipped to third in the shortest distance charts. Only 58 miles seperate the two sides.

The Ground

Underhill has a total capacity of 5,200, with 1000 available for away supporters. Fans visiting on Saturday will be placed to one side of the pitch in the East terrace. A good atmosphere is expected this weekend as a section of the home support being closely placed next to the east terrace where away supporters are situated, this will allow for a bit of banter between fans under the terrace which is good to generate a bit of noise.

For entrance to Underhill on Saturday, Cobblers supporters can expect to spend around 15 for adults, 12 for concessions, and 8 for under 12's.

The One To Watch

Between the sticks is Jake Cole who signed on at Underhill for the start of last season. The former QPR stopper was ever present for the Bee's last season and was named Barnet's player of the year.

Cole is one who always plays at a high level of performace and will take some beating as the Cobblers aim to make it five successive games unbeaten.

The Boss

Before his reign at Underhill began, Mark Stimson was the man who guided Gillingham back into League One in his first full season at the club, Simeon Jackson striking late to guide the Gills up via the play-offs in the last minute of play in the 08-09 seasom. However, a shocking record away from home meant Stimson's contract was terminated by mutual consent as his side fell straight back into League Two the following year.

Stimson took over for the beginning of the new campaign but has only won 3 of his 20 competitive games in charge of the Bee's

Previous Encounters

Last season Barnet took four points off of the Cobblers, the Bee's comfortably defeating Northampton 3-1 at Sixfields on a Friday night before seeing out a bore 0-0 draw at Underhill over the Christmas period.

Vital Northampton Prediction

Northampton are gaining more momentum now as the games go on and are starting to look a real threat amongst the other promotion contenders. It was at this stage last season Northampton started that run of games which saw them only lose once in 22 games. The Cobbler again are starting to look strong and it will take something special to break a defence who haven't conceded in 3 games.

Northampton to ease to a 2-0 victory.
