A reaction was needed to our defeat last time out against Plymouth, which saw our play-off bid take a knock, and Northampton did just that as we did enough to see of Tranmere at Sixfields on Saturday.

The solitary goal divided us but that second half goal was enough with the one-nil win we secured moving us to within two-points of the top seven, and cause more trouble for struggling Tranmere.

A win was what we deserved as D'Ath had hit the bar before Cresswell failed to hit the target, when he should have, from a Carter corner that he headed wide.

Shortly past the hour though Cresswell (62) made up for this as he combined with Carter again, this time his freekick was on he headed home but we did have Duke to thank with our 'keeper pulling off a fine save to keep our a Donacien header.
