Cobblers 1-3 Oxford United
Northampton slipped to another defeat on Tuesday as our recent struggles, of course not helped by our injuries of late, continued.
After it all started so well for us Oxford United turned the game around to go away Sixfields with a 3-1 win in the end.
Enda Stevens and Joel Byrom combined well early on with Stevens (4) firing us into the lead, with Ryan Clarke denying us a second when he saved from Kaid Mohamed.
Alfie Potter forced Spurs loanee Jordan Archer into his first save, which he did well before Mohamed missed another great chance to extend out lead as he rounded Clarke only to see his finish deflected wide.
Oxford then drew level as Danny Rose crossed to Danny Hylton (25) with him making no mistake from a header that left Archer with no chance. A couple of minutes later Archer was faced with Hylton again when Potter was brought down in the box by John-Joe O'Toole to give the visitors a penalty.
Hylton (27) made no mistake to bag an impressive 10th goal of the season to date.
Chances for both sides came, we had the better of them but then Oxford gave themselves a two-goal cushion shortly after the break as Potter's (50) cross was deflected over Archer.
Still we battled to get back into the game with Ivan Toney's header hitting the post to denying us a goal back, it also prevented us from conceding again though as a Michael Collins freekick also hit the post.
O'Toole and Emile Sinclair, who came off the bench, both had chances but couldn't take them as we lost once again.
