Northampton 5-1 Hartlepool
After a minute or so on Tuesday not too many would have thought Northampton would have ran out the convincing winners that we did!
Hartlepool United took a first minute lead but Northampton were soon level and it also soon became apparent that we were in for a hatful, which could have been more than the 5-1 scoreline we eventually secured.
Charlie Wyke (1) beat Jordan Archer, given the nod after Matt Duke's injury, to give the visitors the lead but we could soon threatened to level with Ryan Cresswell going close.
We were level soon after though.
Stuart Parnaby's foul on Kaid Mohamed saw us awarded a penalty and gave Marc Richards (12) another chance to score, which he did from the penalty spot firing past Scott Flinders before the 'keeper saved well from Chris Hackett and Lawson D'Ath.
He couldn't keep out Mohamed's (20) effort though when we took the lead for the first time, we could have already been out of sight by this point.
Despite our dominance Jonathan Franks and Jack Compton both had chances to level up for Hartlepool with Mohamed (35) heading home our third before the break.
After another couple of chances were missed the fourth did come at the midway point of the half when Lawson D'Ath (67) scored then Richards (76) rounding off the scoring with Mohamed denied a hat-trick in injury-time when he headed over, having previously seen Flinders save well again to deny him.
