Cobblers And Flowers Part Company

Cobblers And Flowers Part Company

On a busy day of activity at Northampton on Thursday, with plenty of arrivals but a couple of departures, the exit of Tim Flowers was confirmed.

Flowers came to the club back in 2010; he wasn't around for long before he left his goalkeeping coach duties to go to Hull City. That didn't last long and he returned to Sixfields in the same role, filling in as caretaker boss before Aidy Boothroyd was appointed in 2011.

When Boothroyd was sacked Flowers, and Andy King, took charge of first-team duties but following the appointment of Chris Wilder it was confirmed that King had decided to move on. The same wasn't the case with Flowers initially.

However, on Thursday this departure was officially confirmed.

Wilder has taken to the official website to thank the former England international for his efforts during his time at Sixfields as wished him well for the future, he said: 'I would like to thank Tim for his work on behalf of the club.

'I know Tim has been a long-serving goalkeeping coach here and he has served the club with distinction for a number of years.

'I am sure all Cobblers fans will join me in wishing Tim every success for the future.'
