Heath's Short-Term Deal Expires

Northampton have decided not to extend the contract of Matt Heath, so he leaves Sixfields with immediate effect.

Former boss Aidy Boothroyd brought Heath to the club, initially on non-contract terms but the former Leeds defender eventually did enough to earn a full-time contract until January.

The closer that January got though the less likely it was looking, especially with the squad needing to be trimmed, that the experienced defender would be staying any longer beyond that.

So that's proven to be the case with it confirmed today that the Cobblers have decided to release him at the end of his contract after seven appearances, with the last of these coming way back in September anyway.

However, it went without saying that he departed with the clubs best wishes for the future.
