Team News v Portsmouth

Andy King's first game in caretaker charge of Northampton ended with defeat on Boxing Day at Burton. Northampton travel again on Sunday as a fellow league two struggler is faced at Fratton Park, with former premier league side Portsmouth the opponents.

King could be without Izale McLeod, injury forced him off early in the second half of the 1-0 defeat at the Pirelli Stadium so a chance to face a former employer looks as though it'll be missed.

Darren Carter found himself back in the starting XI, having basically been told he needed to move on under former boss Aidy Boothroyd, however a yellow card meant he'd picked up his fifth of the season so he'll be suspended.

Mathias Kouo-Doumbe, Ian Morris and Clive Platt are out for the next month and join Kelvin Langmead, Lewis Hornby and Alex Nicholls, who are all long-term absentees, in missing out.

Northampton won't want to be ending the year at the foot of the league two table but that's looking likely, making it all the more important to try to avoid defeat at Portsmouth.
