Tozer And Hooper Exit

Comings and going were expected on Thursday, on loan deadline day, and that's exactly what happened.

Northampton's busy deadline day concluded with three players moving on and one coming in. Ben Tozer and JJ Hooper were our own players that moved on, Kane Ferdinand was of course recalled by Peterborough with Izale McLeod secured on loan from MK Dons.

Tozer is one of those that has found himself out of the first team squad a few times recently and was a good candidate to be one of those allowed to go out on loan as the squad was trimmed somewhat, and he duly did.

The defender has managed to make 16 appearances for us this season but won't be adding to them, assuming he will, until the New Year as league one side Colchester turned to him and have secured him until January 4th.

A chance at some first team football with another club was always in the pipeline for Hooper even since his summer arrival after his release by premier league outfit Newcastle.

This has come with the striker joining non-league side Alfreton Town in a similar deal in length to the one that has seen his teammate also depart Sixfields.

Loan moves for the pair will see them play regular first team football, Hooper in particular needed this and I'd expect that he'll spend an extended stay away from the Cobblers before looking to push home his claims later in the season, which was always the understanding I had of the situation anyway?

I'd hope that Tozer returns, however if he impresses the league one side they could well look to sign him on a permanent basis on January perhaps....
