Former Trialist Signs As Blyth Extends Stay

Former Trialist Signs As Blyth Extends Stay

Northampton have increased the defensive options on offer whilst made a move to ensure that the attacking side of things remains high.

Kashif Siddiqi has spent time with the club previously, he had a trial with the Cobblers last season and having recovered from a hip problem Aidy Boothroyd has decided to give him a chance and he's signed a contract.

Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton: 'We've given Kashif a chance to train with the first team. We will monitor his progress.'

If you come from a background that includes being with the Arsenal academy you must have something about you, and now the 27-year-old Pakistani international defender has the chance to push on a build himself a long-term future at Sixfields.

Siddiqi, who is well known for community work, will come in as a unknown commodity to most but it's a move that could prove to be a master stroke and one that could well open the door to more Pakistani footballing involvement in the English game.

At the other end of the field, having scored two goals in four outings during his loan spell from Leicester Boothroyd has decided to extend the loan spell of Jacob Blyth...

Blyth could have easily had a ratio of just under a goal per game, if not on this, but one in two isn't bad at all so as long as the chances are created, and Boothroyd wants more of these for the strikers, I've got no reason to doubt he'll not go from strength to strength under this newly extended loan.

Blyth will now stay with the club until November 2nd.
