Cobblers See Of Stoke Youngsters

Northampton's preparations for the new season, one that Aidy Boothroyd says they're not ready for, were given a boost with a win over Stoke.

In the main it was predominately a development squad sent to Sixfields by Stoke, however Jermaine Pennant was a high-profile name on display from the Premier League side.

JJ Hooper's early goal was enough to send the Cobblers into the break one-up.

It didn't take long for the hosts to extend the second half lead when Ben Heneghan put through his own net. Stoke had the last say but Marcel Barrington's late goal was a mere consolation with Northampton winning 2-1.
