'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Not What Aidy Is Looking For

Northampton might be continuing to look at Kevin Amankwaah but Lateef Elford-Alliyu's trial spell with the club is over.

Five-goals in two pre-season friendlies weren't enough to earn him a deal.

Aidy Boothroyd, as he told the Daventry Express, has explained why. He said: 'I think he is very similar to Roy O'Donovan but I think Roy is a better player and we don't want to have the same players but with different faces.

'We need a bit of variety and that's what we will be looking at. One or two of the younger players have stepped up in pre-season and maybe they can be the boys on the bench when the season starts.'

Fair call from the boss really.

If the former West Brom and Crawley striker doesn't offer him the different alternative to what he's looking for he has to look elsewhere.
