'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Beneficial For Cobblers

Following the Football Leagues approval of Coventry's groundshare with Northampton next season, David Cardoza has defended this move.

News of this groundshare is merely coincidental with the news that redevelopment will happen at Sixfields and this move, as he told BBC Radio Northampton, certainly financially benefits the Cobblers.

He said: 'It's financially beneficial for us - we are being paid a very reasonable amount.

'We are liable for absolutely nothing extra whatsoever. All the additional costs lie with Coventry and we will be sharing some of their revenue stream.'

This hasn't gone down well with Coventry fans, and you would understand why, however so long as the extra games don't cause too much trouble to the playing service then the benefits to Northampton outweigh the pitfalls so it was worth doing on their part.
