'If It's Football, It's Vital'

King Of The Ring

Former Northampton striker Leon McKenzie is swapping the football pitch for the boxing ring!

Another former Cobblers striker Adebayo Akinfenwa is someone that has the build of a bouncer, or heavyweight boxer, but it's McKenzie who is set to make his debut as a super middleweight shortly.

The former striker, who in the nephew of five-time former world champion Duke McKenzie and the son for former British and European champion Clinton McKenzie, retired in 2011 after a good footballing career and will be embarking on a, what he knows will be a short-lived but seriously taken, boxing career at the age of 35.

Mid-September has been earmarked, for a fight potential in Norwich, for him to make his debut in the boxing ring!
