Carlisle Decides To Retire

He was expected to continue with Northampton next season, at least he was under contract (I think?), however 33-year-old Clarke Carlisle has opted to end his playing career.

The experienced defender has called time on his 16-year professional career, unfortunately bowing out on a negative note following The Cobblers' play off final defeat last weekend.

The PFA Players' union chairman intends to maintain a position with the PFA and will "hold talks" with Gordon Taylor about this.

Carlisle has been a top professional and offered Northampton plenty, so retires with the best wishes of all Cobblers fans I'm sure.
