Promotion Dream Ended

Northampton's hopes of securing a place in League One next season were ended when they were thumped in the League Two play off Final by Bradford today.

A rampart Bradford side, who had already tasted Wembley defeat after a thrashing by Swansea in the Capital One Cup Final earlier in the season, flew out the traps and were three-nil up with less than thirty minutes on the clock.

Shell-shocked from this setback The Cobblers were unable to fight back and will have to compete in League Two again next season, whereas Bradford end a memorable campaign with something to celebrate and a place (which would have been the beginning of season aim, as it would have Northampton) in League One secured.
