After Almost 30-Years Exeter Beat Cobblers

Exeter 3-0 Northampton
2nd March 2013
15:00
St James Park

Northampton hadn't tasted defeat against Exeter in almost 30-years prior to the meeting on Saturday. That all changed at St James Park with Exeter comfortable winners.

Exeter broke the deadlock at the midway point of the first half as Lee Nicholls (22) fumbled the ball into his own net when under pressure from Exeter's attackers.

Only a fine save from Artur Krysiak prevented Northampton from drawing level, however they should have been two-down at that point anyway as it was, having missed the previous chance, veteran Jamie Cureton (59) did extended the home sides lead just before the hour.

The Cobblers were denied by a goal line clearance with The Grecians rounding off a 3-0 win late on through Jake Gosling (83). The win saw Exeter overtake Northampton in the race for a play off berth.
