Cobblers Win To Go Back Into The Play-Off Places

Northampton 3-1 Rochdale
9th February 2013
15:00
Sixfields

Northampton recovered from some recent defeats to secure a home win over Rochdale on Saturday to move back into the League Two promotion places.

Lee Nicholls prevented Rochdale from breaking the deadlock before Clive Platt (32) headed home to put Northampton ahead just past the half hour mark.

Further chances came and went for The Cobblers, however Rochdale grew into the game and also went close on a couple of occasions before Jason Kennedy (65) forced the equaliser just past the hour.

Northampton were soon ahead again though through Kelvin Langmead (69) and then a penalty was awarded a few minutes later. Adebayo Akinfenwa (76) successfully converted this to make it three-one.

Only the post denied the hosts another but 3-1 was enough to see Northampton claim the points.
