Northampton Beaten By Promotion Rivals

Rotherham 3-1 Northampton
2nd February 2013
15:00
New York Stadium

Northampton suffered another defeat when they were beaten by promotion rivals Rotherham at the New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A couple of chances went begging for Northampton early on, however a fine save denied Rotherham the lead with The Cobblers going closest of all next with the post denying them. Rotherham then responded by hitting the bar!

It was the hosts that finally broke the deadlock though just before the break when Daniel Nardiello (42) scored from the penalty spot.

The Millers could have been further ahead before a quick-fire double from Ben Pringle (75) and David Noble (79) late on secured their win.

Clarke Carlisle (90+4) pulled one back deep into injury-time but that was a mere consolation with the hosts winning 3-1.
