Northampton Promotion Bid Takes A Knock

Gillingham 2-0 Northampton
29th January 2013
19:45
Priestfield

Northampton's bid for League Two promotion took a knock on Tuesday night when they were beaten by promotion rivals Gillingham at Priestfield.

Cody McDonald (4) continued where he left off at the weekend, and as he had during a previous loan spell with The Gills, with a goal when he struck early to give Gillingham the lead.

Northampton went close to forcing a leveller before the break; one effort was blocked on the line.

An equaliser couldn't be found though with Myles Weston (84) rounding off a 2-0 win for Gillingham late on.
