Cobblers Move Into Automatic Promotion Places!

Aldershot 1-2 Northampton
22nd January 2013

The EBB Stadium at the Recreation Ground

Northampton's fine form continued as they came from behind to beat Aldershot on Tuesday night, in doing so they moved into the automatic promotion places in League Two.

A weekend win saw The Cobblers into the play off zone, however it was Aldershot that got off to a flyer as a Dani Lopez (2) goal had the hosts ahead within minutes.

By the midway point of the half though Northampton were level when Chris Hackett (21) converted from the penalty spot, following a handball.

From a goal down The Cobblers were two-one up by the break when Clarke Carlisle (35) headed home his first for the club since his return, initially on loan, at the tail end of last year.

A couple of last gasp clearances prevented Northampton from extending the lead but 2-1 was enough for Aidy Boothroyd's side.
