Too many defenders at Sixfields

Aidy Boothroyd, as he told The Herald & Post, is looking to trim the defensive numbers at Northampton.

Long-term injury absentees John Johnson and David Artell are closing in on first-team returns, while Clarke Carlisle recently returned to The Cobblers. Anthony Charles has been told he can leave and others will follow him.

The Cobblers squad is short, Boothroyd knows this, however he knows its overloaded with defenders so he hopes to trim this area down this month so he can look to strengthen some other areas.

Moving players on, that are under contract, is easier said than done though isn't it!
