Northampton lose from two-nil up

Northampton 2-3 Cheltenham
8th December 2012
15:00
Sixfields

When Northampton cruised into a two-nil lead at Sixfields on Saturday a victory would have been expected, but they blew this and eventually lost to Cheltenham.

Topscorer Adebayo Akinfenwa (2) opened the scoring early on and an own goal from Billy Jones (14) soon had The Cobblers two goals to the good.

Had a third, which it almost did, come along the game would have been over as it was two goals in three-minutes saw it turned on its head. Goals from Darren Carter (25) and Chris Zebroski (28) had Cheltenham level by the half hour mark.

Northampton had chances to restore their lead but couldn't manage to take them with Darryl Duffy (80) completing the Cheltenham comeback 10-minutes from time to give them a 3-2 win.
