Keeper leaves Cobblers

Both Higgs and Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd, as he told the official website, agreed it was best for all that the 35-year-old moved on: 'After long conversations we decided it was in the best interests of all parties to terminate Shane's contract.

'We wish Shane every success for the future.'

Higgs has been limited to just three appearances this season since returning from his Achilles injury but has found loanee Lee Nicholls as a removable object. He will now hope to get himself fixed up with a new club.
