Northampton extend unbeaten run

Northampton 3-1 Wycombe
17th November 2012
15:00
Sixfields

Northampton's unbeaten run was extended when they saw off strugglers Wycombe at Sixfields on Saturday afternoon.

Wycombe had threatened to take the lead, going close once and being denied by the post on another occasion before Adebayo Akinfenwa (24) broke the deadlock to give Northampton the lead.

Having failed to equalise, with a good chance or two presenting themselves, the visitors were punished when Akinfenwa (61) scored his second as he converted from the spot just past the hour mark. Minutes later Chris Hackett (65) further extended The Cobblers' lead.

Joel Grant (72) was also successful from the penalty spot to pull one back for Wycombe, but that was as good as it got.

Had it not been for the woodwork, having scored his first ever hat-trick recently, Akinfenwa would have been celebrating another treble but Northampton had done enough though, winning 3-1.
