Injury blow in Cobblers win

Northampton 2-0 Port Vale
27th October 2012
14:00
Sixfields

Northampton recorded an impressive win over highflying Port Vale on Saturday afternoon, but the serious injury to Alex Nicholls took the gloss off this.

Nicholls (20) opened the scoring for Northampton, having rounded the keeper he slid the ball into the empty net. A challenge from John McCombe, while Nicholls scored, saw The Cobblers striker taken off with a suspected broken leg (following a long period of treatment) and Vale's captain McCombe sent off.

Just before the break Louis Moult (43) extended the home sides advantage further.

A 2-0 win was great for Northampton but the injury to top scorer Nicholls really did overshadow this win...
