Gills to strong for Cobblers

Northampton 1-2 Gillingham
2nd October 2012
19:45
Sixfields Stadium

Unlike the weekend Northampton weren't able to mount a comeback from two-goals down with league leaders Gillingham going away from Sixfields with the points.

Having been denied by the crossbar, when Chris Hackett saw his effort come back off the woodwork, Northampton eventually went into the half time break one-down with Deon Burton (44) striking a minute before the interval.

Shortly after the restart Jack Payne (55) doubled The Gills lead.

Adebayo Akinfenwa (82) brought Northampton back into the game late on but despite losing Charlie Allen in injury-time, with him collecting a second booking, Gillingham won 2-1.
